Meet Joshua Baker
When I first told my friends and family that I was considering a run for State Senate, the most common response was "you're crazy for doing that". But unanimously they all encouraged me to pursue it and without hesitation told me they would vote for me. Throughout all of my jobs, not once did I meet a fellow hourly worker that felt represented by their state legislator, myself included. I was raised to believe that great leaders must lead by example and leadership is a burden of responsibility, not a privilege. I grew tired of waiting for a genuine leader to stand up and take charge, so I'm standing up to volunteer.
At my core, I truly believe that political representation is a responsibility, not a career choice and I want every Kentuckian to have a happy life. No matter our political affiliations, we are neighbors and Kentuckians first and foremost. I believe that our best days are yet to arrive and that we have a bright future in this state. I believe that it is time for the younger generations to step up and take control of the direction for our government. We may not be able to control the feds or foreign policy, but we can absolutely make Kentucky the best place to live.
I also want to protect the land, plants, and animals that make up our beautiful state. Whether it is protecting watersheds, coordinating with local hunters, fighting data center construction, or listening to the farmers and wildlife experts that know the land best: I will passionately defend the NKY wildlife and environment that I proudly call home.
